FOOT AND ANKLE TRAUMA
If you or a loved one has an injury that requires a trip to the emergency room you will likely be referred to a specialist. Most people are not aware that you can request to be seen by any specialist you would prefer.
MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE
Most often you get the on call doctor. Not all physicians specialize in foot and ankle trauma. You may get lucky and have the on call doctor be a foot and ankle specialist. Unfortunately, most of the time you will get an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in knees, hips, or shoulders. While treatment of the foot and ankle may be covered under their license, they are likely not up to date on current treatments, and certainly are not seeing foot and ankle conditions on a daily basis. You would be much better off requesting a board certified foot and ankle specialist to treat your condition; and you will be much more likely to get the results that you’re looking for.
I have extensive experience and training in foot and ankle trauma and did an extra year of training under one of the most respected foot and ankle surgeons in the world. So, the next time you are injured and go the emergency room, request to be seen or consulted to Dr. John Sigle at the Foot & Ankle Center Of Illinois. You will receive the proper treatment and get back on your feet as soon as possible. You will rest much easier knowing that you have received the right treatment.
